I was checking out Bing search, seeing how things come up (cough*binging-myself*cough), and look who I found?
hedra. She's a mom, smart, thoughtful, self-aware, interesting. Probably more interesting than I am, too.
Anyway, I liked her writing, so I'm linking her here...
And you know what's funny? Her real name and mine are the same (first name). I've never met another who used hedra as a nickname before.
Cool. :)
Aw, thanks. You totally made my day.
I was working with a group of immigrants several years ago and folks had difficulty with the "th" and "er" sounds in my (our) name. And so Hedra was born. It's nice to know there's another one out there. :)

Glad to have made your day. :) I've linked your blog in my blogroll.
in my case, my sister gave me the nickname, but again it was working with a language difference. My sister was at the time taking Spanish, and she nicknamed me 'hedracita' (essentially 'little precious heather'), which then was shortened to hedra. But the language use of the sounds was part of the reason for the hedra conversion.
